Dhund

ढूंड - 

We belong to Humad samaj, which is a subcaste of Digamber Jain. In our caste we have special function organized to introduce newbie to the whole caste, and this function is called as Dhund. This year too this function was organized 'Dhund - 2010' and venue was 'Narsingh Vatika' on aerodrome road. A day before, our family planned a family get together at 'Navgrah Jinalaya - Greater Baba'.

Nana, Nani & Darshan Mama from Jaipur; Ankit Chachu, Nayan Chachu and Ritul Chachi from Pune; All of them came to celebrate my dhund function. Whole Doshi, Gandhi & Bobra family all gathered at Navgrah temple. I dressed like a little princess for the eve.

Everyone played a round of tambola mentored by Chachu and Dadu. Golu chachu won the full house, Dadi was lucky to win lines and pair. Darshan mamu was lucky to be awarded unlucky price. :)

Later, I sat on Mamu's lap in center and all the unmarried Chachus and Buas made sound by beating sticks and kalasha over my head. It was a funny process, everyone enjoyed it a lot. Then I received many gifts from Nanu and Dadus. Nani brought lots of toys for me and out of the bunch my favorite is Aeroplane :)

Next day the function was at Humad samaj, we all were very excited for the function. 'Dhund - T10' stage was beautifully decorated like 'Rajwada Chowk' in Indore. All the kids born in year 2009-2010 were listed out and invited on stage in ascending order of there age. This year there were around 39 entries, and I was 13th youngest in Humad family this year.

All the kids were invited and introduced to samaj with Parents and Grand Parents. We received gifts and blessings form the elders of the society. Also, there was a competition between the Dhund families for the best presentation on stage. We won the first prize in that.

Later we partied at Apna Hotel, we all visited Apna palace.

Holi

Today evening in our colony we have a gathering on the occasion of 'Holika Dahan'. Vishal Nanu got me a beautiful dress for Holi. Me and Laddu both are celebrating our first Holi. Tithi wise today is Laddu's first birthday. I wore a new dress and went to do Holi pooja at Shiv Mandir square in our colony.

Me and Laddu offered 'Kharak' and 'Coconut' to the Holi. Mom and Preeti Nani prayed for two of us. It is believed offering Holi prayer saves kids from diseases. After coming back home we had another round of ritual was practiced. This time Mom and Dadi prepared 5 Lotas filled with different articles. 

 

 

They used chocolates, kharaks, coins, patashe and khurbaani. Vishal Nanu was made to sit in middle on choki. I sat on his lap and every one else made sound with the lotas. 

 

This ritual was practiced with a belief that after this newly born kids will have sound sleep and they don't panic while sleeping or playing. Latter Nannu tai said my name in my ear. In early days kids were given names on Holi by Gaudji Maharajs. Nannu tai played the role of Gaudji Maharaj :).
